Question:
Hi Sam! I have a combination of blown in insulation and old ( 50 years )collapsed batt insulation in my attic! First, can I insulate right over the old batts? They have basically collapsed and are stuck to the drywall! I would also like to remove the blown in insulation and replace it all with nrw batts! Are there companies that will remove the old insulation? Dwayne, Hamilton Ontario.
Answer:
I would keep the existing insulation in place I would make sure ther is sufficient insulation in the attic now, make sure the is at least R40 which is optimum in the attic. I would not have it removed there it still has an R value to it.
