Sam, Our basement has a washroom and laundry nook in one room with no window but a heating/cooling vent. Due to the venting requirements of the dryer and washroom, I believe this room is particularly cold in the winter due to having two holes cut into the foundation for venting. We have stuffed insulation around the ducts and yet the room remains cool. Is there anything else we can do to reduce any potential heat leackage. Thank you and regards.

Code requires that the basement be insulated at least 2' below grade and that the basement headers be insulated as well with at least R20 insulation inside the header space and R12 on basement walls. The headers spaces are the most important because 20% of energy loss of a hous is lost throught there make sure they are insulated correctly and covered with a super 6 mil vapor barrier as well.
