Question:
hi,
I have problems in the winter with a cold bedroom that is located over the front of my garage. My garage in not heated though I have placed insulation on the inside part of the door along with weather stripping on the outside. There is an older type of insulation on the garage ceiling with a stucco finish.
Are there some type of special insulated garage doors that I can use? Or would I need to run heat into my garage to fix this problem?
Thanks!
kevin
Answer:
The floor in the garage ceiling is insulated more than likely insulated in fiberglass, there may be a question that there is air penetrating the space between the floor and ceiling. An insulated and well weather stripped garage door will help control the air penetration. The best solution would be to air seal and insulated the underside of that floor with Icynene Spray foam. The existing insulation and drywall would have to be removed.
