Question:
I have read on the net two versions of applying 1 1/2" blue poly to the cold floor over a porch crawl space. One version says build a 2 x 2 frame around the each "batt" and the others ays just lay 5/8 plywood on top of the blue. Which is preferable?
Answer:
If you are trying to insulate the floor above a crawlspace the best solution would be to spray a product called Icynene to the underside of that floor space if it is accessible. If the crawlspace is not accessible then installing a polyextruded styrene in a wood frame and covered with plywood would be your best bet.
