Question:
I am going to build a 3 season cottage on bedrock, just North of Huntsville,ON. Not exactly sure of the grade at this point, but lets say the bottom of the floor joist at the rear of the cottage will be elevated 12" and the front 30". I wanted to close it in (just to keep out animals). So this means that the underside of the structure will always be subject to the outside temp/humidity levels. Should I just leave the floor alone, as cold air will not rise through the floor during times of year when the night temps. are still very cool. I will be heating with a wood burning stove just so you know.
Thank you Tom Ivis
Answer:
The underside of the floor has to be insulated. You should be insulating the underside of that floor with a product called Icynene. It will ensure there is no air infiltration or ex-filtration, therefore elimanting an uncomfortable floor.
