Hello, I have an area of my lot that is low lying and every spring is covered with water for a couple of weeks (up to 6 inches at times). Through the summer it's not as bad, but it can get pretty soggy. I'd like to build this area up and make it usable so I'm wondering what you'd recommend...a layer of gravel, then sand, then topsoil? Currently the area is mostly covered with small poplar tress which I will be clearing out. Thank you...

Good Morning If the water is only 6" deep, then I would only use soil or topsoil to raise this area. The soil should be compatible with your existing soil. However, you also have be careful as to where this water will be directed in the spring, as you are not supposed to direct water towards your neighbour's.
