Question:

Hi Martin, I noticed that there are grubs on our lawn. Can we still get rid of them this time of the year? And how can we do that or what is the cost involved?

Answer:

Hello. This is not the right time to get rid of the grubs. They are usually best killed during July. The best way to get rid of them is to spray a chemical called Merit. However, this chemical is not available to the homeowner. It must be applied by a licensed applicator. It is important to schedule this with the applicator as soon as possible as they usually get booked up fairly quickly. A secondary method is to use nematodes. However, this method is not always as effective due to the follow up maintenance required. Also, they should be put on at a heavier rate than is recommended.
