Question:

Hello: I have recently moved into a new house on 2/3 of an acre. When the house was built, the lot was stripped of its topsoil as we needed a lot of fill. Once the house was completed, the topsoil was re-spread on the lot. Unfortunately, there are a lot of rocks in the soil that need to be removed before I can plant grass. Is there an easy way to remove these rocks besides removing them by hand? Thanks very much.

Answer:

Hello. If the areas are fairly large, the easiest way to remove the rocks is to rent or hire a Bobcat type machine with a landscape rake attachment on it. This machine will remove the rocks fairly easily and provide a loose friable surface for your new lawn. Sincerely Martin Fine Fine Landscape & Consulting finelandscapeconsulting@rogers.com
