Question:

Hi Robert... Been Red-Tagged and have 30 days. Our construction grade York <50% is dying, and are looking into getting a H.E. Furnace replacement. Out of the names we've seen, Can you please rank them in serviceability, efficiency, and potential ROI: We are getting different stories from all the different potential vendors. Furnaces we are looking into are: RUUD H.E. Achiever 90+, UGFD or UGGD York H.E. Affinity 9.v Lennox H.E. Air-Flo 90, G61V, G61 Carrier Infinity 96 or Confort 93 Goodman GCV9 or GCS9 Trane XV90 or XL90 Sorry for the list, but we did our research but all sales reps say that theirs is the better, than the other's, with obscure reasoning and pitch phrases - I We really want to know which H.E. Furnace will keep us in our house another 20+years without having to worry about it? Thanks you

Answer:

Thank you for your question. Unfortunately we are not at liberty to comment on or recommend a particular brand name of furnace due to our code of ethics and liability limits in the event that a recommended piece of equipment came back to haunt you. I agree that you have done your research and unfortunately you must now rely on the information and "pitches" from the sales representatives of the installation companies. All of today's model of High Efficiency furnaces are quite comparable. Whether or not to include a DC two-stage motor which uses less electricity than a single stage would be something else to determine. While choosing the manufacturer of the furnace is one consideration, the choice of the installation company and after market service package are equally important. My suggestion is to determine which company makes you feel the most comfortable and confident in your selection. As you know anyone can sell you a piece of equipment but nothing lasts forever therefore after sales service and support is of the utmost importance. Sorry for not being able to give you a definitive answer. Thanks again, Robert Hill AmeriSpec Inspection Services rhill@amerispec.net
