Question:

I am painting my bedroom and had wallpaper on one wall, I have primed the wall and everything looks good (seams are covered) I am going to paint that one wall a different color and try shadow painting, the other three walls are textured walls, should I texture this wall also? I am also wondering if a glaze stripe will give the same effect in the shadow painting used with the same colour paint, or would I be better to use a semi gloss paint? Thank you in advance for your help.

Answer:

I would not put a texture on this wall. You already have enough texture going on and it would take away from your shadow painting. As for your shadow painting..... I would use a flat paint as the base and the glaze should be a satin to a semi-gloss. This will help with the shadow effect and make it very interesting. I wish you all the best with your project. Thank you. Robert Grey.
