Question:

Hi we are planning on renovating our kitchen and family room. We have a very small budget and will need to do all the work ourselves on a tight supply budget. What are some of the things that we should focus on when making our plans? Thanks!

Answer:

Planning, research and homework. Collect as much information as your can so when you spend you dollars you spend them where you get the most benefit. What area of the city are you in? There are a number of seminars, courses available out there that can give you some insite. I am hosting one in Brampton in the near furture. Also contact the Greater Toronto Home Builders Association. At the National Home Show April 8-17, the RenoMark part of the organization is offering sessions called 'Renvovation Conversation'where you can meet briefly with a renovator to discuss some of your issues. For more specific help, my business revolves around clients like your self on a tight budget. I offer workshops and seminars and provide an overview of the construction issues and give guidance at navigating your project. Feel free to call me at 905-866-8358 if you would like more information. Also the CMHC and Canadian Home Builders Assocation has ALOT of information online. Check out there sites. Hope this helps, good luck. Erin Zagar EZDimensions Renovation Consultant P.S. I appologize for the delay in this response, we had some technical issues of late with my login. I hope Im not too late with this info!
