Question:
Les
I am entertaining 24 people for Thanksgiving dinner this weekend. Last night, I decided to tackle the grout on my kitchen floor. It is ivory and every year I like to treat it to a bleach bath to get the colour clean.
Over the past year, I kept noticing how effective the bleach in my dishwashing detergent is on small stains so I decided that I would use it on the grout. To help things along I decided to scrub it into the grout line as well. When I washed the floor after I was stunned to see brush marks on the surrounding glaze.
The dishwashing detergent product was Cascade gel - contains 4.5% phosphorus.
I just went to your homefocus web page for ceramic tile care and noticed that abrassive scrubs are recommended. Have I permanently ruined my floor? This floor is my absolute pride and joy - please let me know what I can do. If I haven't ruined it and this is just residue, how can I get rid of it? I have tried boiling hot water to try warming up the cold tiles. If I have ruined it is there a method to repair the glaze?
Thanks in advance for your time and advice.
Regards
Diane
